Recycling

Transforming everyday garbage into useful items for tomorrow is one tried-and-true method of conserving our environment.

Toward that effort, your ECUA encourages you to participate in the recycling process. Your daily efforts contribute in so many ways:

• Energy: It takes less energy to produce items from recycled materials than from raw materials.

• Economic Development: Recycling helps to create new, well-paying jobs in the recycling and manufacturing industries, locally and nationally.

• Landfills: Fewer landfills will be needed in the future and recycling extends the life of existing landfills.

The ECUA Recycling Program is completely voluntary and to date, 75% of our residential sanitation customers have chosen to participate!

To sign up for our Recycling program, just follow either of the following methods:

• Call our Customer at 850-476-0480 and one of our representatives will gladly assist you.

• E-mail us at customer.service@ecua.fl.gov. Please include your name, address and daytime phone number, and your desired recycling container size (available sizes are 40-gallon, 64-gallon, or 90-gallon containers).

 

 

Curbside Recycling:

Put these items in your gray recycling container for easy weekly pick up by your ECUA Sanitation crew.

Recycling No-Nos

Please do not include these with your recyclables:

  • No Plastic bags - Please check with your local grocery stores to see if they collect plastic bags for recycling.
  • No Polystyrene products (Styrofoam®)
  • No Pet food cans or bags
  • No Ice cream cartons
  • No Waxy/paper milk cartons
  • No Aerosol cans
  • No Juice boxes or bags
  • No Garbage or yard waste
  • No Garden hoses
  • No Window blinds
  • No Tarps
  • No Bedding or linens
  • No Carpeting or rugs
  • No Construction materials
  • No Tin foil or foil baking pans
  • No Plastic chairs
  • No Residential Medical Waste
  • No Bubble Wrap
  • No Food Waste
  • No Propane Tanks
  • No Plastic or metal hangers

 

ECUA Bulk Recycling Program

The ECUA Bulk Recycling Program is open to all ECUA Residential Sanitation customers in Escambia Co. who are signed up for the free curbside recycling service. Please call 850-476-0480 for pickup. Items will be picked up the next collection day after calling.

  • Car or truck batteries and tires (no equipment tires)
  • 20 lb. propane tanks
  • Appliances
  • Large amounts of cardboard
  • Household electronics including: Computer monitors (CRTs and Flat Panels), computers (desktop and laptop), keyboards, mouse, printers, scanners, copy and fax machines
    • Televisions (CRTs and Flat Screen)
    • Stereos, radios, CD and tape players, VCRs and video game systems
    • Telephones, cell phones and rechargeable batteries

 

DO NOT PUT BULK RECYCLE ITEMS IN YOUR RECYCLE CANS. PLEASE CALL FOR A PICKUP.

ITEMS WILL BE PICKED UP THE NEXT COLLECTION DAY AFTER CALLING.
